Or the question may arise how to enable cross account access in aws. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>We would get these answers right here, as you all know &#8211; AWS or amazon web services is a widely accepted public cloud, it is being trusted by many established companies as their cloud partner. There are multiple benefits of migrating the in-house data centres into AWS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consider a situation, where you or your company is appointed to manage and maintain your customer AWS account, but ensure the customer won`t provide you with the full console access, in that situation you can suggest the customer about the cross-account role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.liainfraservices.com\/aws-cloud-migration-services\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"729\" height=\"91\" src=\"https:\/\/www.liainfraservices.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/To-know-more-about-Cloud-Migration-Services-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2567\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.liainfraservices.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/To-know-more-about-Cloud-Migration-Services-1.jpg 729w, https:\/\/www.liainfraservices.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/To-know-more-about-Cloud-Migration-Services-1-300x37.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 729px) 100vw, 729px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Steps to enable cross-account IAM access using AWS console<\/strong>:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now, lets take the below use-case and understand that better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Imagine that you have two AWS accounts, which we\u2019ll refer to as Prod and Dev. You want to give IAM users in the Dev account temporary and limited access to the Prod account via the console.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Few AWS terminology:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Customer account (Prod) is the Trusting Account<\/li><li>Your account (Dev) is the Trusted Account<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Need to have few information handy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Make a note of the Dev Account number (Trusted). For this example, we are considering that as \u201c123456789012\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Task 1: Create an IAM role in the Prod account (Trusting Account)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/PquJB7-8UBJjfmPqo8Sh0sH2oajBNX3sUeUgr3wC0LQ4hkGd5pU805xtv0NentUG1C9amzxW_xD1RlXNOGeE4bDODtAaTH5Btidye0rskxDZnj49HRQQFDcYAcTLk8Dk85d4RXkT\" alt=\"Create an IAM role in the Prod account (Trusting Account) | Liainfraservices \"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And when you set permissions, choose the <strong>PowerUserAccess<\/strong> policy template. This lets users from the Dev account work with all services in the Prod account <em>except<\/em> IAM. For example, they won\u2019t be able to change the permissions for the role they\u2019re assuming, and they won\u2019t be able to create new users or roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Put the name and fill details as needed. Notice the Dev Account is showing as <strong>trusted<\/strong> account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/FEJF1NwQqUIqjw9T-KVLC2ZAs7APkgrCAnQgprELrWnP3jGQndQlK31WvDK2rA_71PyBd-ZhADHOTO6gOm0pa5hao7BpjamyQZqV4gc1ifeIShQZOnZDKUheBGqkOjbmaemdArzp\" alt=\"Create Role | Liainfraservices \"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Make a note of the Role ARN (Very important), it should be <strong>arn::aws::iam::trusting_ac:role\/role_name<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now login to the <strong>Dev (Trusted) AWS<\/strong> account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Select policy &gt; Get started &gt; Create Policy&gt; policy Generator<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/aZERKDgQlT-tDbY_8clmuQqk7YUrn9QHWlADtWns2bd5HE1whY1Wh9aqyKCOieHh5qtHAR7twkrLMjYhvUEa8T1V75tjLYQsVA0MCCuHQdsQZ1FvVUAAFw2-EK6-YGjaUCzipiA_\" alt=\"Edit Permissions | Liainfraservices\n\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Add the ARN for Role that was created on the Trusting account. Click on \u201cAdd Statement\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/khTx-2YrAR-18OZlpCcBM95yn08bQwlm0pU6K2sBSGQe8Dl9iuRCEvDW-0tOlyx8py3d4_-Uawhgfr8hmtqZ-2oCMCDlQsqxIhiAUHsF3tmEOSkRQYScD0B6A6PtQT2cfGRETz7L\" alt=\"ARN | Liainfraservices \"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Assign that Policy to the user or group who would like to have access to the prod account resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edit the permissions for a user (or group of users) to let them sign-in to the Prod account and grant sts: AssumeRolepermissions. As the resource for the action, specify the ARN of the CrossAccountSignin role you created earlier.
